2003 Hyundai Tiburon SE review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Not much has gone wrong with the car, although I am very disappointed with the pick up the car has, which is next to nil especially when the air conditioning is on the car in the summer. After having driven a 2000 GT Sunfire, I am very disappointed in the proformance and speed of the 2003 Tibouron. To make matters even worse, they misrated the horsepower on the car.
In September 2002 Hyundai sent out letters to most of the Tibouron owners and I say most because of friend of mine with the same car as myself never did receive a letter, indicating that they had published the wrong horsepower rating.
In light of this they were goint to try to make good by offering a couple of options. In my opinion the options were very weak considering the faux pas. I called customer service and based on my purchase as well as extending warranty etc etc, I told them that the options offered were not good enough. At this they told me that they could offer a $500.00 credit?? I debated this issue as they said this would only be good for a 2 year period? Where are they coming up with these dates? Why could I not have this for the length of my car lease and as long as I was the sole owner for the 4 years?
I never did hear back from Hyundai and this all took place in October 2002. In March 2003, I called Hyundai Canada to ask about letter to them in October and that's when the customer service person told me they were sending me out another letter.
On March 14 I received a letter indicating that "Hyundai was agreeing to provide me with the $500.00 credit and that I should send my acceptance back to Hyundai"
On April 7 I received another letter indicating that the credit was now registered and that I could begin to use it and that the expiry date was October 2004?
I called Hyundai Canada and the customer service representative was completely useless.
I sent a letter to the Hyundai Canada president advising him that in none of the letters sent did it indicate the options chosen by any of the car buyers would take effect from the original date of the letters sent by Hyundai. Hyundai did not even send confirmation of acceptances until March 2003??
Is this fair?
I am going to fight this until Hyundai Canada realizes that their letters are not at informative and that they make a lot of assumptions. No where in any of the letters that they sent did it indicate the date of acceptance was the initial contact date??? And if this was the case, why did it take them almost 5 months to respond to a letter dated October 2002.
This is completely unacceptable and I will send letters to all the newspapers as well as car publications in order to get my point across.
I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
Thank you.
Rose Coletta-Kyle.
