Front interior lights both are now out
Stereo.. keeps switching back and forth from FM to CD, even when we have no disc in.
Rear suspension.. recently had it in the shop twice to correct skipping to the right over bumps. This is still a problem. Any thoughts from other owners appreciated.
Overall very happy with this car. Excellent value for the price we paid!! Other cars we looked at in the same price range were base model Cavalier, Neon. You get the picture, no real fair comparison as the XG is fully loaded with all power options and heated leather.
On your suspension issue... Has the vehicle been wrecked? I am a technician for that company, and the only time I've seen this occur in XG's is after the car was smacked in the rear and some half-wit, gung-ho, "body man" got a little too excited with the frame straightener. If it hasn't been wrecked then check your sway bar for any bends and have them check your rear bushings for your shocks. These cars use independent rear suspension set-ups to specifically keep this from happening so something is wrong and it sounds like something's bent, seriously out of alignment, or really loose!!!
Oh, a helpful hint about your car... whenever you mechanic recommends a timing belt, DO IT!!! (In 60k mile intervals only) If you break a belt on a 3.0 or 3.5 engine (what your car has) the valves smack the pistons this equals up to best case scenario, head-work, worst case scenario, new engine and headwork.
Also these cars' intake design was garbage, after about 60k or 70k miles the upper, lower intakes and more importantly you intake valves get extremely carboned up. It can get so bad on these cars that it can keep the valve from opening and I've seen it cause a bent vavle or too (head work= $$$$) So my advice is when you do you timing belt, go ahead and do your plugs, wires, and injection/intake decarbon. It may cost some money, but I'd rather pay $$$ instead of $$$$$. Just some helpful hints from a guy who works on cars like yours for a living.
