1994 Infiniti J30 review from North America
"The Infiniti J30 is a tribute to the abilities of Nissan's engineers"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Back seats have cracks above the headrests.
Radio does not power on.
Power steering hose developed a bad leak.
Paint's clear coat worn away in spots.
Power windows flaky.
General comments?
The Infiniti J30 is very comfortable to sit in and is very luxurious with almost everything being covered in leather. The minor touches like wood trim in moderation and analog clock in the dash just make the car look more high class. However, because the car is low to the ground, the process of getting inside the vehicle may be an issue for anyone who's used to driving an SUV, truck or minivan.
The exterior styling on the J30 is classic; that's really all there is to say. The headlight and grille design give the front end an aggressive look and feel while the exterior curves and shapes give the car a streamlined and modern look that's more similar to luxury cars of today rather than the early 90s. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of cabin and trunk space.
While the Infiniti J30 isn't exactly fit for racing, the 210hp VG30DE V6 engine (also featured in the second generation Nissan 300ZX and the 1992-1994 Nissan Maxima SE) gives the car plenty of speed and acceleration to run well on fast roads and large highways. The 4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes, tight turning radius and nicely tuned suspension help to keep the car safe and under control. However, due to a light rear end, the car may fishtail when turning at high speeds on wet roads.
Maintenance costs are high and the resale value is low so this car is definitely not for anyone who intends to buy and sell for a profit. Rather, this car is most fit to anybody who is knowledgeable with fixing cars and would like a high performance luxury sedan that rivals new luxury cars in comfort and driving experience at a low price. The Infiniti J30 is quite possibly the funnest car I've ever driven.
