1998 Isuzu Amigo v6 4wd 5 speed review from North America

I have a 1998 Amigo with 50k miles. So far from a truck that is supposed to be fun and enjoyable, It has given me nothing but headaches and greif. I only wish there was a word more powerful than horrendous to describe Isuzu's customer service and they way they treat their "Valued" customers. Maybe if I add a prefix it will make the description closer, so lets try incredibly horrendous? Seriously horrendous? Seriously incredibly horrendous? Nope Still doesn't describe their customer service.

If you want a vehicle, that will give you nothing but trouble, get you an attitude and have a back turned to you when you look for help with it, raise your blood pressure, put you in an early grave, connect you with people (after holding for an hour) who don't have a clue how to help you or who you need to speak to to get help, make you hate a company more than you ever thought possible, then the Isuzu Amigo is perfect for you my friend.

I won't even go into detail about the problems I've had with the truck and and that is only second to the the customer dis-service I have received from Isuzu, because I'm sure there is a limit on how many words I can type here.

To give a quick rundown, so far, I have had to replace a transmission that went on me exactly 2 months after the 5 year warranty expired, no help from isuzu what so ever, although they did manage to rob me of $160 for a diagnostic in the hopes that they would fix it under their good will policy, which should be changed to their will not help policy. Which their diagnostic consisted of not a damn thing other than drive it around the block and tell me there was something wrong with my tranny for $160, which I told them before I brought it in. They wanted $1300 just to pull the tranny out and look at it, before they would even decide to decline to help me with the good will policy. Then if Isuzu won't cover the repair which they quoted me an astronomical $4000 for, and I don't have the repair, I'm out $1300 and my transmission comes home with me in a baggie in the trunk in pieces, cause that didn't even include putting it back in.

My check engine light has been on since 30k miles, went back 13 times to the dealer and they still couldnt fix it.

Pass side window won't roll down fully.

Ac went out on me.

Radio broke.

Suspension squeaks over every bump.

Rear seat will not fold down.

Bumper cracked.

Intake gasket went.

O2 sensors went.

Catalytic converters went, and I can go on for another 20 min, but I won't, cause mom always told me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all, and everything I've said so far was the nicest things I could think of.

All I can say is the Amigo, is no friend of mine. Nor is Isuzu. Keep in mind, this truck is 5 years old with 50k miles, its still a baby.

I wouldn't buy another Isuzu if they were giving me money to take it, cause the repairs it would need would cost more than they give me and the value of the truck itself, i'd still end up losing money.
