The Gemini is a very underestimated car. However, with a small amount of work they can be turned into a street machine. The G200 (2 litre) makes a huge performace difference as opposed to the G161 (1.6 litre). This simple conversion allows you to beat vehicles such as naturally aspirated Silvias, Lancer VRXs, Focuss and other similar models. It also scares cars such as Falcons and Commodores.
Handling can be improved with a larger set of tyres and sports suspension.
A cheap car to make look good, reliable.
Will run forever without oil and water.
Recommendable car for anyone.
Hi agree with you. I've owned ten Geminis since 1976, ranging from 1600cc, 1800cc SOHC and DOHC.
My cars were unbeatable in terms of handling; the credit goes to double wishbone front suspension and independent coil springs at the rear.
In stock form the 1.6 can hit 175 kph, and my 1.8 DOHC entertained me up to 210 kph, with the use of solex40 twin carbs.
I've modified my 1.8 to 2.0 using 88mm pistons, and used 44mm intake and 36 exhaust from a Toyota Land Cruiser, and can easily do 200 plus kph in 5th gear.
I miss my Geminis. I regret selling them, I'm currently searching for 2dr coupes.
