1986 Isuzu Pickup review from North America
"Great little truck!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator went out.
Battery died.
Headlights burned out.
Thermostat died.
Radiator hose rotted out.
General comments?
This is an awesome little truck!
It runs and runs and runs!
I've only had to do basic maintenance on it, and replace a worn out hose and a bad thermostat.
The alternator killed a battery and the headlights. It finally went out in the middle of nowhere, and I was still able to drive the truck another 300 miles to my destination!
I get close to 30 mpg with the canopy on, which is unheard for a truck.
It's pretty slow (1.9L engine, what do you expect?) but it can haul/tow anything.
The cabin is pretty basic, and kind of noisy at high speeds, but since this is a no-frills truck I'm not surprised.
The only downside is that getting parts is kind of hard. I had to go to 5 parts stores before I could find an alternator, and I was unable to find a radiator hose with the right bends in it so I had to patch the old one.
