2000 Isuzu Rodeo LS review from North America
"Not sure if I would purchase another Rodeo but we take a chance on any care we buy... new or used"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
1. Oil changes more often than necessary
2. Check Engine light comes on
3. Jerking from 1st to 2nd
4. Gasket
5. Doors make noise upon opening.
General comments?
I purchased my 2000 rodeo in 2007 from a dealer. I have my oil changed when needed but recently noticed that there was a vicious jerking going from first to second gear. after taking the vehicle to the shop they told me that it was my transmission. since the truck was giving me no strong indication that the transmission was going, I took the vehicle to someone else who suggested changing the transmission filter because most likely it was clogged; he also suggested changing the gasket on one of the pans (since it has 2). the only difficult part about checking or changing the transmission fluid is that it has to be done from underneath the vehicle with a tool that looks similar to an air pump. my vehicle "seems" to be running great right now and it has only been a few days but thank god I didn't let the shop take my transmission out like they suggested.
I am noticing that my windows on the front passenger and the rear drivers' side will not let down from the drivers' side of the vehicle (this is a new one).
Other than this, I am enjoying my vehicle but if no one realizes that they have to have the transmission checked every few months from someone who knows what they are doing, you will ruin your transmission and before you do anything regarding the transmission, I would suggest starting with the filter. best of luck!!!
