1995 Jaguar XJ6 X300 Sport review from UK and Ireland
"Bargain luxury sports tourer that'll put a smile on your face everytime you drive it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing yet really. The clock is foo barred - LCD display has leaked and I have had intermittent problems with the key fob transmitter.
General comments?
Superb all round sport cruiser. Everyone who has ridden in it, both men and women, comment favourably about the levels of comfort, refinement and the general sense of occasion. It handles large mileage journeys 4 up with ease and without complaint.
It is equally at home on motorways or A roads, wafting along in near silence with all mechanicals working silkily and un-obtrusively in the background. On country B roads the story is a little different, as the car's obvious size and weight becomes more apparent. Whilst the Jag handles potholes and corners competently, the relatively soft ride is exposed at times if the car is required to hurry up.
Overall it is a superb car, achieving the full potential of its design criteria. It's luxurious enough to cosset the most critical of passengers, but has the sporting pedigree to provide the discerning sports tourer driver with an engaging and responsive drive. The suspension, engine and transmission are superbly matched, and when asked the car is capable of eating up huge distances a lot more swiftly than one could reasonably expect from the modestly powered 3.2 engine.
I love it! Only downside is the fuel consumption, but hey, you can't have everything and considering I only paid £2000 for it, I'm not complaining!
