Well, for a 14-year old car it's actually not been bad. tires, passenger-side a/c blower, one of the electric door-locks actuator, and some other small parts and hoses. I guess it comes down to maintenance and the previous owners kept the car in awesome shape.
The only issues I have with the car is the design in the gas-cap where the drain could get clogged-up and water could find its way to the gas tank (it happened to me once) and the other one is the radio/sound which is lousy and replacing it for an aftermarket one is not an easy task.
I sat on the passenger seat of a jag a few years back and I told to myself: I must get one. this was my first jaguar and I bought it with apprehension as I had heard so many nightmare stories about jags. so, I was able to buy this one for $5,000 and figured that such amount was a good gamble and boy did it pay out! great car thus far. I have pushed it to 100 miles and it rides great at any speed, fast and excellent handling. a jag is a jag and nothing compares to it. I have enjoyed this car so much that I just got a newer XJ8 and we enjoy these beauties.
I purchased a 1990 Jaguar XJ6 over the summer for under 800, and with a little work and about 2000 more it now looks brand new and has the best ride of any car I have ever owned. I will keep this Jag and hand it down to my grandson one day. Jaguars are good cars to pay little for, and are fun and easy to spend a summer to bring back to life.
I just purchased a 1990 XJ6 Vanden Plas for under 1,000 with only 55K miles on it. Me and the wife spend the day cleaning it up as it was located down a dusty road after being acquired by a son from the Little Ole Lady from Pasadena (her son). My wife drove it and feel in love with it. It has a few minor problems such as the chrome on the wheels needs to be redone and the shoulder harness motor on the passenger side has some issue but other than that it is a clean car! We are looking forward too many road trips, well worth the price for the comfort!
