2000 Jaguar XJ8 review from UK and Ireland
"Great car but poor electrics"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Purchased my XJ8 in Sept last year, and almost from the start I had problems with the car not starting.
I would put the key into the ignition and an array of warning lights would appear. i.e ACS not working/low brake fluid/gearbox fault/engine failsafe mode.
I found that if I left the vehicle for awhile, I could restart the car. This is a problem that quite a few owners have also had, and have not been able to rectify.
I am also a member of the Jaguar enthusiasts club, and have placed this problem on their forum web site, but as yet no replies as to a remedy.
The car has been back to my local Jaguar main agents, and they replaced the transponder unit on the steering column, but still I am having the same intermittent problem.
I have also replaced the battery with an original Jaguar item from above main agents, as I have been informed that they need to be replaced around the 30,000 mile mark, yet still the problem persists.
I have owned Jaguar cars for over thirty years, and the later models are the best when it comes to comfort and drive, but what a nightmare when it comes to the car's electrical system.
If anyone can help me keep this car on the road by supplying the solution, I would be very grateful.
Regards, Alan.
