I have had no real problems with this car.
A side light burned out and was easy to replace.
The antenna motor slipped a cog and had to be replaced.
A great car all around. It gets admiring looks from young and old.
Very quick and fast with reasonable fuel mileage. I get a little over 22 mpg combined city/highway.
Interior is so classy and inviting you just want to go for a drive.
So comfortable it can't be explained.
I purchased 2 2000 XJ8's when they were new. One of them has been nothing but wonderful, and the other has basically had everything replaced that could be replaced.
I have to say, the dealership is really the only place this is qualified to work on these cars, they are very temperamental.
Both of these vehicles were built in Great Britain in the same assembly plant. Even the paint on the one that is trouble free hasn't faded in the least, however the one that has been a nightmare mechanically has also needed a paint job last year.
I can't figure out why one vehicle is so trouble free when the other one has literally cost me at least $8000 since it was purchased at the end of 2000. If I hadn't purchased 2 at the same time, and I was only stuck with the troubled auto, I would never purchase a Jaguar again.
So I think I am going to trade in the piece of crap for a new one, and get out from under it.
Good luck everyone.
