1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible review from North America

"Best Grand Touring car ever built"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing, the car has been very reliable.

General comments?

This is an amazing car. It is unbelievably quick, and has a mind blowing top speed. It's handling is as precise as a Ferrari yet it's ride is as smooth as a Rolls-Royce. This car makes no sacrifices on the ride to provide such razor sharp handling. The roar of the powerful V-12 is a symphony of cylinders. The sound is that of a truly exotic super car, which is what this car is, an exotic super car.

The XJS is a rolling work of art, that is just as comfortable in an art museum as it is on the open road. I get head turns and compliments everywhere I go. This is a stunning car with a truly timeless design.

The interior is up to par with cars costing over $200,000. The materials are of the highest quality. With the hand stitched leather, and the hand cut and polished mirror finish wood, the completely hand assembled interior of this car possesses a build quality long forgotten by most other automobile manufacturers. It has luxury amenities that are not even found in some modern cars. A power convertible top with rear defroster, headed seats, and power lumbar support, power windows, and ABS brakes. The interior is library quiet, which is very impressive, especially for a convertible.

This is a true super car that has performance, looks, and luxury. No other car possesses all three characters, except for another Jaguar. And no other car possesses all three characters on such a high level.

The car has been very reliable in my time of ownership, and gas mileage has been relatively good for a V-12, ranging between 12 and 18 miles per gallon.

If you've ever dreamed of owning an exotic car, the Jaguar XJS will be the most pleasant and rewarding ownership experience, and with excellent examples going for around $18,000, one of the least expensive as well. I personally recommend the convertible as opposed to the coupe, due to it's better looks and more exciting driving experience. I prefer my XJS to my previous car, a 1985 Ferrari 308. The Jaguar is smoother, more luxurious, faster, better looking, and has a lower cost of ownership.

The Jaguar XJS convertible is one of the fastest, smoothest, most precise, luxurious, and best looking Grand Touring cars ever built ever. I love this car and plan to keep it for the rest of my life.
