1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport review from North America
"Wonderful"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Plugged and rattling catalytic converter at about 150,000.
Front wheel hubs at 170,000.
Neutral safety switch needed adjustment at 167,000.
Suspension at 170,000.
Water pump at 138,000.
Cylinder head at 138,000 due to previous driver overheating and continuing to drive.
General comments?
Still has great power at 171341 miles.
Great ride.
Been in an accident at 30 mph with a steel state park gate and fixed in the driveway. Very durable.
I get 15mpg city. And at over $3 a gallon...
The body is in great shape, no rust and for living in Massachusetts winters that's saying a lot.
I will never own anything else if I can help it.
Too bad they stopped making the Cherokee.
With basic repairs and maintenance these Cherokees will run forever. Even if Daimler Chrysler has given up on them the aftermarket hasn't. They have more of a following now more than they did while still in production.
