I bought it from a bum dealership, so I didn't notice the first thing... missing seat belt in the back seat, and missing covers in the trunk.
The gas cap had to be replaced because of check engine light.
Power window failed/fell off track.
Low coolant light beeps on, but it isn't low.
4 wheel drive (part time) light no longer comes on.
4 wheel drive takes a while to kick on.
Mostly the same problems as previous posts; rotors, etc. I was fortunate to have $1500 maintenance done on it before the warranty was up.
The biggest issue: In October of this year (I've had the same problem as the June 17th remark) it stalled while driving on the expressway and I lost power steering. It kept stalling at random times and not starting; also it would lurch like it was losing power and regaining it again.
When I took it to a mechanic, they couldn't find the problem, although they had it for 3 days. When I finally took it home, it stalled and was towed to a shop, where they were able to fix it. Unfortunately now it's doing the same thing again. It "bucks" while driving, and it starts to lose power, then gains it again, causing the car to lurch. I'm afraid to drive it any long distance, and I can't afford a new car (I still owe on this one) or another trip to the mechanic; the fact is I need it to drive to work.
I've seen this problem on several review sites for this model/year Jeep, and feel it's probably an issue that Chrysler should look into and recall. But given the state of things and the probability that a car manufacturer wouldn't own up to it, I guess I'll just recommend that people not purchase this product.
I'm guessing on this, but I think that problem you're talking about might be caused by bad crankshaft position sensors.
I agree. Chrysler should share some of the responsibility.
I've had the some of the same issues with my 2003 Jeep.
Transfer case issues.
Power door drivers side quit working TODAY.
Four wheel drive. Part time light wouldn't go off.
Car idling at a light or when stopped.
Cutting off while driving, mainly when parking or backing up or just sitting.
Check fluid light comes on often.
It's also a very bouncy ride. But what can I expect, it's an off-road vehicle.
No, I will not buy another although, I love the style and the size.
I know this might sound a bit obvious, have you had the fuel checked, might be a bad batch or you've got some water in the tank.
