2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

At 5000 miles Jeep was taken into dealer with a complaint of loud squeaking

in front end. Dealer kept overnight and returned next day. Service manager told me this was just a jeep noise. I told him that I have owned a jeep before and never encountered this noise. Jeep still squeaks...

At 8000 miles jeep speaker system began malfunctioning, speaker would work off and on and rear speaker began to buzz.

Dealer replaced rear speaker where it still buzzes from time to time.

At 10,000 miles air noise began to occur around rear hatch. notices that hatch seemed loose and hatch screws were loose, so I tightened them up.

At the onset of the purchase of this vehicle which I let my wife pick out I have noticed that front seats are very cramped and driving is very uncomfortable. This vehicle not made for tall people. With the seat adjusted to its full upright position my head is rubbing the roof..

As before with my other Cherokee the carpet is wearing next to the gas pedal.

The two wheel drive Cherokee is not outfitted to drive in bad weather, we had a few inches of snow and it wouldn't even get out of the driveway..

General comments?

Very disappointed about this vehicle and can't wait to trade it in. The only good thing about this vehicle is that it has takes off very quick...

Why would you buy a car if your head rubbed the top of it. I am sorry, but this truly shoots down credibility. Not to mention, the fact that you can easily slip it into 4wd when it snows/rains, that's why they make it. If the carpet wears - get floor mats, shouldn't have been so cheap when you purchased it.

I am 6'2'' and fit just fine in my 2001 Cherokee sport.

I am 6'3" and cannot fit comfortably in my wife's 2001 Cherokee. The 4WD lever also cuts into my calf while driving. Not a very comfortable vehicle for long trips, either. Seat needs to be reclined quite a bit so my head doesn't touch the roof.

Also, this vehicle is quite unreliable. I won't mention all the problems we've encountered, as most of them have already been posted here. I still like the looks of the truck, though, just wish it was more reliable and a bit more roomy, but that's understandable since it was designed to be a compact SUV.
