I bought my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport used in 2000 with 37,000 miles already on it. It now has almost 190,000 miles on it. Most of my repairs have been standard maintenance items ie: tires, front brakes, fluid replacements. The only issues I have had recently was a broken coolant line last year and replacing the thermostat 2 in the years I have owned it. I did also have the drivers door window issue about 1 year into my purchase, but overall. I have been overall lucky, I guess. I did just replace the rear main seal and differential seal, but if that is all the money I have to add to this vehicle this year except oil and gas, I'll be quite happy.
1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport that I bought used with about 55,000 miles.
I have had problem with the driver side radio speaker. Fixed a wiring problem in the door myself.
Passenger side electric window failure. $375 for mechanic to repair and replace the motor. Still is intermittent driver side control always works.
Rear brake shoe problem, one cracked and broke. Replaced both rear brake shoes and at about 95000 miles I need to replace them again. (making a scraping noise)
I have always a problem with a lot of play in the rear end. Stop and go into reverse and there is a clunk from the slop in the drive mechanism. A little noise from the differential gear system, when in drive, but not loud at all. Maybe it's slop in the pinion gear. Don't know.
