"JEEP CHEROKEE aka MY TALL SPORTS CAR"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

This Jeep is okay except for the vibration that no one seems to be able to correct. Also the Jeep leans to the left. It is very noticeable when you're looking from behind and from a distance.

But overall Its okay.

Very uncomfortable for long distance trips. Back Seat is not Made for BIG People. The rear doors are even small.

General comments?

I absolutely LOVE the way it handles.

Having the rear wheels controlLing everything the front wheels freely travels as they are being pushed by the rear wheels and led by the driver.

Even Curve Handling is great!. I can turn a curve at about 30mph without leaning. Great for dodging potholes also.

At high speeds (80-95mph) my Jeep Floats on the highway. The tires make a lot of noise, but that can be ignored

by music or even paying close attention for the Barrits. Switching Lanes, you don't have to worry about whipping out of control. It just easily go over at those speeds.

A BIG plus is that you can see better than in a car because of the ride height.

The unibody also let you see all around you. The Wide Mirrors help too.

Take off is awesome. I challenged a Honda Accord at a light on a hill, he tried hard to stay neck and neck, but that powerful engine smoothly brought up the hill with no attempts to slow down. The Honda gave up!

I have a 2001 4wd Cherokee in which I fell in love with right off the bat. My wife, who isn't that crazy about driving, feels safe in it. She calls it her relax vehicle whether if she's driving or the passenger. I believe it due to the great visibility the jeep has. Another reason that I love this car is, you can go down the road and in a distance you can tell if one is coming toward you. In other words, the Cherokee has its own look not like the cookie cutters of today.

The only problem I have is a vibration at high speeds. I have new tires and shocks and alignment. Does anyone know the reason or the remedy for this vibration? Besides this problem I believe the Cherokee will be with us for a very long time.

This is to the writer of the previous comment. I've owned a few Jeep Cherokees, To try to help you solve your vibration problem, I've had it happen before. Usually it's just that the universal joints in the drive-shaft need replacing. However, I recently drove from New York to Arizona With a minor vibration that became severe a month after I was in AZ for a month. The transfer case shattered and cost about $250 for a used one that I replaced. I am happy with my Jeep. I got it from my father, it's a 1988 and has over 325,000 miles on it, and the transfer case is the only thing to break on it. But most likely your problem is U-joints; there are two in your driveshaft and cost about $5.00.
