2001 Jeep Cherokee Grand Laredo review from North America

First I found within the first year of ownership was that the brake rotors were warping. When decelerating down the front wheels started shaking.

After 15 months the performance slowed down in the sense of - I push the pedal, but the car cannot move uphill: diagnosis was that the transducer in the transmission was damaged.

In the meantime my brake rotors needed to be refurnished one more time.

The grand surprise came in 2004 at about 58000, when the transmission died.

I brought the car to a Jeep garage and they wanted to replace it for a new at 4000 $. I went to a transmission shop where they installed a rebuilt one for 2800 $. Jeep Dealer did not want to release my broken car to be fixed at transmission shop because he wrongfully assumed I was driving his rental car. This incurred another $ 100 because of confusion of towing company, transmission shop, me, and Jeep dealer.

Now that the transmission is fixed, at 60000 miles, the engine warning light goes on again, even flashing, and the trouble code says its engine misfire. Technician tells me he has to replace the ignition solenoid. Happens often, he says, he knows that from the Wranglers.

This Jeep is a soccer mom's car to bring kids to school. this will be our last Jeep.

Our next car will be a Toyota.
