1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer review from North America
"Torquey little powerhorse...awesome"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
So far, this Jeep is the coolest thing that I have ever had the chance to mess with. I only just bought the Jeep a few months ago and have been playing around with it for some time now. The first problem that I encountered was the fact that when I bought it, the thing had no wheels on it and was sitting on blocks in somebody's back yard. The guy selling it was asking $500 and I needed to buy a car as I will be getting my license soon.
I found out that the radiator had been patched and this suddenly became a problem as I was romping around and apparently the patch on the radiator hadn't been done properly and the thing puked out every ounce of water in it.
The back two rear windows had seized up as they are automatic and needed some TLC with a can of WD-40. Easy.
General comments?
This Jeep is a powerhouse. Gobs of torque.
4X4 works great, low range included.
Interior is in fair shape, no rips in the seats, but everything is dusty and dirty. Can be easily fixed.
The Jeep is hard to start when cold, but once running is great.
Paint is very rough. A paint job is probably a must.
