I have to sell my baby- 86 CJ7. It does need some work. I live in Utah. Does anyone have any insights about how to price and where to advertise? Growing up is sometimes over-rated. thanks--Jan

I have had a 1979 CJ7 Renegade and presently have a 1986 CJ7 Renegade. Is it just me but I find while going down the highway I feel very unsafe. I find I really have to concentrate on the steering and God help me if I hit railway tracks that are in poor shape that run across a highway as I am going 100 KPH. I welcome any sentiments. I cannot imagine going across Canada - I would be totally 'bushed' - thanks; Bill.

Jeeps were not originally designed for high speeds & highway use, as they were made to go where conditions were bad & roads were nonexistent. To this day, the outstanding off-road ability of the Jeep (CJ's & Wranglers) compromises their on-road manners.

Due to the short wheelbase, high ground clearance, etc. a CJ or Wrangler demands the driver's full attention & concentration while being driven at highway speeds.

Yes, in windy conditions you work a bit to keep your Jeep in it's lane, as it is noisy and has the aerodynamics of a brick with a large sail attached, but driven properly a Jeep will get you where you're going regardless of the weather conditions.

It's important to drive a Jeep or any vehicle capable of going off-road with extra care, especially at highway speeds. A CJ or a Wrangler is not a sports car, but what sports car car climb a snowbank?

Happy Jeeping!

One other thing - just to be safe make sure that your Jeep's steering gear and front end are tight and in good condition, as it is an older model.

I have a 1986 CJ7 with 67,000 original miles. I've actually owned it since 1987 and it's either been covered or in my garage the vast majority of time. I doubt there's 10 more in existance in the shape this one is. However the carb is starting to go out, again. I've had to have it rebuilt twice but now I'm runnning into problems finding someone who can or will work on it. Even the local jeep dealer said they could not get parts and really didn't have any one to work on it.

Suggestions?
