I just took delivery (01-07-07) of a 2006 Limited 4X4, 4.7L. I was not really in the market for a vehicle priced this high, but they took 27% off the $40,230 sticker. My guess why it did not sell was the lack of the 5.7L Hemi, 95 Hp for an $845 option is a no-brainer if you ask me? I'm very happy (a total of 225 miles on it today). In general I am pleased with the ride and fit. The features are great (the chrome accent package would be cool). I'm not planning on any extensive off road use, the 4 Wheel Drive is for safe traveling form Memphis to Chicago / Detroit at any time of year. The visibility out the back is not an issue with the back-up assitance (my opinion is if I always needed the 3rd row, this vehicle would not have been my choice). Styling is a personal thing, to me the difference between this vehicle and others in this category are nuances... Good luck to all with their choices, I will post any issues.

I have had a Commander since June 06 and I have been quite pleased with it. There have been a couple of things that I did not like, but over all it's a nice nice vehicle. Great power and quick take off.

If you are not looking for a gas friendly vehicle, get a Jeep Commander.

I bought my '06 Commander Limited Hemi new. It had virtually EVERY option you could get and had the highest sticker price of any Commander in my tri-state at the time.

I was considering the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Hemi with the 6.1 liter but that had not off road capability.

It gets 12 mpg in the city and 17 on the highway. The 12mpg is more an ubran mix... it would be less if I was in high traffic. So, not great but decent for the vehicle size and power. In reality, the mpg is not much worse than the smaller engine models ; 4.7 and 3.7, the latter of which suffers from being underpowered.

I have about 11k miles on my car over about 1.5 years. There was a minor squeak at the front passenger door when the radio bass was turned up that worked itself out after a few months. Other than that, nothing's gone wrong with it.

Jeep is discontining the Commander in 2009 due to lack of sales.. its their lowest selling vehicle.

At first, I didn't like the looks of the front end of the vehicle but they have worn on me well. I think now that they are going to stop making it, the Commander will turn into a classic like the ole' Grand Wagoneer, which it reminds me of.

I own a 2006 65th Anniversary Edition, with 3.7L V6. I bought it new Aug 2006. I now have 11,000 miles with only minor issues. For the price, room and comfort, it can't be beat. If I have any complaints, it would be the mileage, 14 city and 18 hwy, but I knew that when I bought it.

I keep getting a leak on the front passenger seat handle grip that ends up on the floor. It only occurs when there is very heavy rain. Anyone know how to stop it?

I have had this vehicle for one month and absolutely love it. We live in Colorado and need something more trail worthy. It is quiet, smooth and powerful in the 4.7L. I bought it with about 6K on it for $21K, which is 3K more than I paid for a Ranger XLT Supercab in 1990!!! We couldn't be happier.

Apparently, soaked carpets are common in the Commander. There are two sources, from what I've heard: the sunroof does not drain properly and sends the water indoors (drainage tubes have to be cleared), or the windshield posts weren't welded properly and allow water to enter the cabin. Either way, it doesn't look good on Chrysler. Somebody said the transmission is German. Is that supposed to impress me? Talk to some Mercedes owners; there are a lot of transmission problems in the shop!

We love our 2007 Commander, however when it rains hard, our floor gets soaked too. I think it's the drain on the sunroof. It's bad on gas too; 9'5 per gal it says on the computer (HIMI engine). Good thing its just for running the kids to school.

I love the automatic windshield wipers too. Cool feature!

We have had the car a year now, second owner, 35,000 miles on it, and we have had no problems at all.

Oh, the sky window above the 2nd seats rattle. Drives me crazy, but it seems to be it's when it gets cold is when it does that.
