2006 Jeep Commander Limited review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Lost three plastic rivets from fender skirt.
General comments?
Looks like my old Cherokee on steroids.
Flies! More HP and less torque (faster) with less off-road capability than the H2.
Handles well even at high speeds.
Consumes gas about 12-13/mpg-but don't buy any SUV (get a KIA) if your worried about increasing gas prices.
Lots of on-board electronics-luxury items.
Cabin is roomy enough with front and rear elevated stadium seating.
Third row seating is also elevated for better passenger forward vision, but tight for those in back with little leg room. (Good for kids and those you don't like enough-or owe you money-to ride shotgun.
Good vision (front and side) but little rear vision- if third row seats and headrests are up. Learn to use your side view mirrors (like any truck driver has to) and the park assist feature.
The commander is a small tank crossed with a hot rod surrounding a luxury hotel studio apartment inside.
If you want to enter combat-like terrain buy a Hummer-1 (Alpha).
If you want Speed buy Viper.
If you want luxury buy a Lincoln.
If you want sensibility buy a Jeep Liberty.
If you want gas economy buy no SUV.
If you want a taste of all the above buy a Jeep Commander!
