While still under warranty:
Radio problems.
Brake problems.
Radiator.
Computer problems.
Starter.
High idle.
Transfer case.
After warranty:
Starter.
Fuel pump.
Water pump.
ABS brake light.
Numerous sensors.
Started smoking and using oil at 100,000 miles.
Transmission slipping.
Sorriest piece of crap we have ever owned! Advice to any potential buyers of the Grand Cherokee: Run, don't walk!
Dude I have got a 93 and it has worked good since the day I got it. You must have got a lemon cause it is the most reliable car I have ever had. I have never had any problems with it except for the radio messing up once and it did not cost much to fix.
I also have a 93 that is now a yard ornament after putting not only a new computer, but a new starter, fuel ignition switch, new fuel pump, new relays, new oil control switch, new fuses, you name it I have put it on... And still won't start... I agree with you, this is nothing, but junk!!
Problems:
1) Shocks and stabilizers need replacement.
2) Paint job on roof is chipping away along with some seems around the body and windows.
3) Cracked fog lights, but still operating
4) Black enamel on door control panels are coming off.
I bought a white 93' JGCL in Nov. 2005 after doing a "carfax" check on its history and love it to death!
Best 4X4 I ever owned. Interior is great, but black enamel on door control panels are coming off at different locations including steering wheel.
At 147,000.00 I am replacing the shocks (they look like the originals) and front stabilizers (That were both broke off when I bought it) BUT what can you expect for a vehicle that has that many miles on it?
The Quadra-Trac system is top notch and this beast can and has gone everywhere I wanted to go in the Jersey Pines.
The POWER of the 5.2L engine is awsome and responds on command.
If you do your research on this car individually you will find a diamond in the rough. I did...
