2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited review from North America

Duel Climate Control blows only cold on the passenger side. There's a flap-door that's attached to the A/C unit that opens and closes and let's air into the channel for the driver's and passenger sides. The door of my passenger side broke. I bought the car in the summer so I never realized that the passenger side only blows cold air in the winter. Fixing it would involve taking out the dashboard (labor costs of about $800 according to mechanics I got quotes from). Apparently, Chrysler knew this was a problem, and have revised the "bun door" in the 2003 models.

I was told my transmission has problems and will go soon. Apparantly Jeep's need an overhauled transmission around 100,000 miles. (about $2,500) I had to do that with my last Gr Cherokee. Chrysler now gives a life-time guarantee to drive-train, especially the transmission.

Driver side heated seat is broken on my car. Driver side usually goes first in any car because of getting in and out of car, and breaking the coil inside the seat. I was told that's about $400 for any kind of car.

If you get a newer one with less miles, you probably won't have problems. The car looks great and drives well, and has great features. Just make sure the transmission and the duel climate control work well. Otherwise, you're shelling out $3,500 for both.
