I would like to mention my disappointment with my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It seems that they have many "well known" problems that Jeep does not acknowledge or care about and wants the customer to pay for repeated repairs rather than admitting their mistake and recalling the vehicle to correct it properly.
- Warping rotors! I have had four new sets of rotors put on my Jeep over the past 20,000 miles that I have driven. That averages to 5000 miles per new set of rotors. In addition, I have had them turned between replacements. They have been turned after less than 3000 miles and they still pulse and squeak after around 1000 miles. Really, I do not drive hard nor do I brake that often. In fact, we live in a rural community and have minimal start and stop driving.
Does anyone know the permanent fix to this costly problem?
Check for wear from brake pads steel, and where they rub on your caliper mounting brackets. Bet they're notched where they touch. I have bling bling on mine and there's nothing more embarrassing than chirping down the main street. Mine have to be notched at least 2 sixteenth of an inch, and the pad retaining springs won't hold the pads down in place. Softer caliper mounting bracket steel than pad mounting steel???
