2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited review from North America
"Hunk o' crap"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Recently I was coming out of an establishment and used the remote to unlock the doors. All the interior lights stayed on, even after the car was started. Could not get the lights to go out.
I also noticed that the remote entry wouldn't work, as well as the passenger side windows and door locks would not work.(power locks only) (manual locks work fine.)...
Tried reseting the computer by turning the ignition off and on 3 times as directed by a mechanic I know... and the odometer displayed "Done" interior lights remained on.
I had to get home, so I manually turned the interior lights off with the dimmer switch. Upon arrival at home I removed and checked all of the fuzes... (no fuses blown). After I did this the interior lights went out and resumed working as usual... except for the fact that when you open the passenger side doors, the lights don't come on...
This was all happening in the last month or so. I've dealt with the problem for now, but my wife is tired of it. I took it to the Jeep dealer and paid for the scan. and they told me that the body control computer must be having problems, because nothing on the passenger side has power.. not the locks or the windows.
So my question is... has anybody else had problems like these? And if so, do they know what I can do to fix them without paying the Jeep dealer like 500 bucks +? They tell me that I have MAJOR electrical problems and that they will have to dig into it and find out what's wrong... and I'm not exactly willing to pay their hourly rate to quote "find the problem, then maybe be able to fix it." If I wanted to burn money, I'd start a fire with the jeep itself! It appears to be a hunk o' crap...
Oh, and just by the way... I also had a problem with the infamous QUACKING door... but it was the driver side rear door.
Thanks for any help you people can find...
