2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I'm in the same boat with most other people here. I purchased my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo in 05 with 64k on it. The first week I had it the rotors needed to be replaced. That was covered under the extended warranty I purchased. In the last 2 years I've had the following problems:
1 - BRAKES ARE TERRIBLE! Had the rotors and pads replaced, but the brakes still vibrate when having to brake quickly. VERY UNSAFE!
2 - ENGINE OVERHEATED 2 WEEKS IN A ROW! 1st time it was the fan module. 2nd time it was the fan motor. Total of $535 to fix both.
3 - WINDOW REGULATORS ON BOTH FRONT DOORS FAILED! Cost almost $400 for each door.
4 - 2 ENGINE LEAKS! Fixed while under warranty.
5 - BRAKE FLUID LEAKED ONTO BRAKES! Fixed while under warranty.
6 - LIFTGATE LOCK BROKE! Cost $200 to have repaired.
7 - TRANSMISSION JUST STARTING SLIPPING! Had the codes reset free of charge to get the engine light off and it's been fine since, but that was just this morning.
I'm tired of wasting money on a piece of junk. I love the way my Jeep looks when I wash and wax it, and I love the way it handles in the snow, but I must put an end to this. I'm going to do what I said I would not do, and that's trade it in towards a better SUV! I WILL NEVER EVER OWN ANOTHER JEEP OR ANY CHRYSLER VEHICLE! BEWARE!
