The engine blew at 145,000 miles and had to be totally replaced.
Had to replace speed sensor, motor mount and constant velocity joint at 151,000 miles.
Replaced the rear brake discs at 135,000 miles.
Replaced the front end struts at 105,000.
The air conditioner stopped blowing cold air after 6 years due to a very small leak. I had the freon refilled twice, but it only lasted two to three weeks. I'm planning on using the black die method used by mechanics to find the leak.
The steering wheel has worn badly.
The back passenger door power window can only be controlled from the door control.
I'm on my third battery in seven years.
This car is very powerful and has performed to my satisfaction. It handles very well for a Sports Utility Vehicle, but has diminished once I got over the 125,000 mile mark. I wish it would break a little faster too.
The car is very comfortable and the driver has a good perspective of the driving horizon.
It averages 17 to 18 miles per gallon according to the Jeeps on-board computer display, but I do drive it in a lot of stop and go traffic.
The interior has aged well, especially the leather seats.
The exterior is stylish and also looks good for a seven year old vehicle.
The last year has been difficult with the maintenance costs of adding a new engine and other minor expenses. I'm paranoid that my transmission is going to go next.
Even though the maintenance costs have gotten high since I've hit the 150,000 mile mark, I like my Jeep, and don't want to put another $35K into another vehicle.
I Purchased my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3-years
ago. It was the Finest vehicle I had ever purchased.
Last year when I had 125,000 miles on it, I had some minor problems with the Heat and Air. After Taking it to a Dealership for correction, the following items are not performing and I have an Electrical drag on my battery which I have not been able to identify.
.Message Center-out.
.Alarm System- out.
.Radio Antenna- out.
.1st setting Headlamp switch- out.
.Rear Wiper motor- out.
While I stood in the Service Center, I noticed that the Mechanic had crossed my battery with the portable Charger cables causing sparks to fly completely over the hood of my vehicle. My Message Center was working very well until this occurred. when I filed a complaint with the Dealership, they denied that reverse Polarity would cause such a problem, and therefore could not accept responsibility.
I Love my Jeep, and I will continue to correct all that is wrong with it as soon as I can find someone who is qualified to perform the tasks.
Meanwhile, I will continue to disconnect the battery cable
every evening until the problem is solved...
Finally, I am a Small Business owner, a Senior Citizen with
Heart Disease, so everything that I purchase in the future should have a Lifetime Warranty.
Yours Truly.
