2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee review from North America

A transmission sensor chip needed to be replaced at 40,000 miles.

The entire engine needed to be replaced at 45,000 miles.

Miscellaneous other electronic items have gone on the vehicle in the 2 years I have owned it.

This vehicle is an insult to the automotive industry. I have had nothing, but problems with the car since I bought it. My most recent problems with my jeep were transmission related, which cost me $350 and I was just informed that the entire engine is gone at 45,000 miles. I have taken the vehicle in for all of its scheduled maintenance, oil changes every 3 thousand miles and I am a parent of a 3 year old, so I am not driving the vehicle "hard" I am absolutely disgusted with the car and the fact that Chrysler explained to me that this kind of thing happens and that's why I should have purchased the extended warranty. The Jeep truly lives up to its notorious reputation and I only wish I had listened to the people who told me not to buy a Jeep when I was deciding what I was going to buy. (all previous Jeep owners by the way) I've seen higher quality products in a junk yard and Chrysler does not stand by their product at all. It's an outrage for an engine to blow at 45,000 miles and even more of an outrage for the manufacturer to say that those things happen. Well they don't happen with any other manufacturers. To all thinking about buying a Jeep, do yourself an enormous favor and buy something else. They may look nice and even drive nice, but you're in for nothing, but headaches. I will never be seen driving another Jeep, even if one was given to me.
