1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Base review from North America
"Wish we could find another car as good as this"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Other than tappets, only two minor annoyances, but they took a long time for the dealer to figure out.
I was unused to ABS on the brakes and was concerned about the vibration and sound I experienced shortly after engaging the transmission. It took several months for the dealer to determine that this was simply the automatic ABS test kicking in.
The back door hatch would regularly seize up and could not be opened. Very awkward to remove two bicycles any way other than that hatch. Dealer eventually fixed it, but now, after thousands upon thousands of kilometres, it's gone again.
General comments?
The most fun vehicle we've ever had and one of the best for reliability.
Very good road feel and handling.
Great in the snow. We especially like the full-time 4 wheel drive mode that allows us to drive on bare dry pavement when there is an expectation of slippery conditions on the road ahead.
