"BAD"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Bought the vehicle several years back, after a week of having it I had to have the sway bar links replaced. Luckily I bought the extended warranty, however after 73,000 miles the company went bankrupt.

My speakers have been replaced several times. The infinity speakers put in the Jeep does not support the radio, so I have at least 4 replaced.

Drivers heated seat stopped working, the dealership thought it was the fuse or something simple when actuality after taking it several times the whole seat had to be replaced.

I've had a crack in the exhaust manifold which the dealership kept for a week and I had to fight to get a rental paid for.

My sunroof started to leak so I had to have the sealant replaced which cost me about $200.

I had a problem when every time I hit a bump or tried to stop my vehicle would shake so radically that I couldn't stop the vehicle or I almost wrecked. Had that looked at several times and after taking it to a mechanic it was determined there is a shock or something similar across the front of the vehicle that helps the steering that needed to be replaced.

Recently I've had to get my core replaced for my air conditioner because we couldn't figure out where my cooler was going after putting dye in it to find the leak. This cost me about $600 due to the part being expensive and they had to pull my whole dash off all the way to the firewall. Luckily I knew the mechanic so he gave me a break on labor.

General comments?

The vehicle is a comfortable to sit in.

It's very roomy and good for hauling stuff in.

I have the same speaker issues. I do not enjoy blasting booty bass, yet I have lost 3 Infinity speakers with the first two dials (bass) of the equalizer completely lowered! Luckily, they were covered under warranty. One year later, I'm paying for the 4th out of my own pocket--and paying too much.

How much did the sway bars cost to replace? I think that may be what's wrong with mine. Every time I hit a bump of any size the vehicle just "sways" but it still stears straight as an arrow.

Those sway bar end links are cheap at NAPA for about $30.00 each. If your Jeep is clunking in the front end then this is the solution. Cheap repair. If it is wandering, but steers good then likely the front Track bar needs to be rebuilt or replaced for about $100. I am not including labor as I have never paid a mechanic to work on one of my Jeeps.

I love my 98 5.2 Limited and it averages in mixed driving 20 mpg for me. The 6 cyl just plain gets crummy mileage, I've owned several and they have the torque of a V8 but drink fuel harder than the V8!!

I see your previous car was a "Chrysler Alero".

Is that anything like an "Oldsmobile New Yorker"?

I am not an expert, but I will say the previous owner had A LOT of fun offroading... You know, what Jeeps are SUPPOSED TO DO, and anyone that complains about the stuff you do obviously does not understand "It's a JEEP THING". Go buy a Range Rover.
