I disconnected the battery cable to check the alternator and fried the computer @ 215,000 miles.
Rear wiper motor locked up @ 220,000 miles.
This Jeep has been a dream to own and drive. The only problem I have had out of it is the wiper motor and computer, and it was my fault! It now has well over 250,000 miles and it is still going as strong as anything on the road. I can easily keep up with any car on the interstate at any speed (over 100mph).
My Jeep is also a tried and true off-roader. I have yet to get into a situation where I didn't think I would make it out.
My Jeep has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It has never left me stranded. Never!
Anyone who says this vehicle isn't good off-road, or unreliable is just plain crazy. Every vehicle company has lemons here and there, so don't let one persons bad experience change your mind about buying the original SUV. You won't be disappointed!
I would like to know if there is a solution for this problem. I have a jeep 1994 grand cherokee limited and maybe I fried the computer system too. Or the alarm system is activated and the computer does not work, it kind of tries once in a year to start, but does not. The security device is always on.
If you know anything I can do about this matter please let me know
diana.
OK I BELIEVE, do not quote me on this, but I think it may be an enclosed security device in the car that is activated when the battery is disconnected, to prevent from theft. place the key in the driver's side door, and unplug the battery. the key needs to remain in the door when the battery is unplugged. then plug the battery back in with the key in the door and it should unlock the security. a real pain in the ass, but it should do the trick.
