1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo review from North America

"Better than most people let on, it cared for"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Rear Brakes replaced at 115,000 Miles.

Exhaust replaced due to rust at 125,000 miles.

A/C pump replaced at 127,000 miles. Replaced serpentine belt at same time.

Minor rust on tail hatch and hood lip repaired at 129,000 miles.

General comments?

This is probably one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. It has been very reliable, though I typically drive it about 500-800 miles per week at 75 MPH plus.

Power-train- engine is original, it runs great, and starts right up every time, though it is a little noisy (a characteristic of the old 4.0). The automatic tranny operates like the day it was made, and the 4WD system has been trouble free as well.

Interior-comfortable, though I wish the seats were a bit higher. the back seats can be folded to make a larger cargo area, but they don't fold flat. I have installed a Sony CD player, that works well with the stock speakers. the dash and HVAC controls are easy to see and use, and the A/C is now ice cold again after replacing the A/C pump.

Trim/body-Major rust spots are hood, and back hatch. no rust anywhere else.

Driving-can be a bit boring on long trips, due to the effortless feel the vehicle gives at cruise. Though acceleration is a bit lagging, the vehicle is a bit snappy over 2700 RPM.

Extremely good in snow, and better off-road than my old GMC Sierra Z-71!

Fuel mileage-17 normal mixed driving, 22-25 highway. (yes, I figured 25 MPG from Buffalo, NY to Norfolk, VA-650 Miles)
