There has been nothing major with this car, I cleaned the fuel system and did all my regular service, there is a small vibration that just started not too long ago by the pedals.
My 2004 Grand Cherokee Special Edition is amazing! I have owned a 95 Grand Cherokee with a 4.0 I6 now I have a 2004 with a 4.7 V8. It has wonderful amounts of power with superb accelleration. It has been nothing, but reliable. Driving from oregon to texas I was passing people going uphill through the rockies liek they were standing still.
I have numerous items drawing power from the charging system, including 2 sets of auxillary lights and 3000 watts of stereo equipment, granted I replaced the battery, but otherwise it works excellently.
The brakes have worked great, this agile SUV stops like a dream.
I believe that most of the problems people have are preventable in all vehicles. I go to school in Texas, so I added a trans cooler to my system, not only does it help keep the fluid cool it ads more fluid to the system keeping it cool, helps save the tranny and extend life. Use common sense and your car wil last you, a car cannot be expected to perform the same with the same setup from coast to coast north to south. Regular checks and maintenance on all vehicles is mandatory, and if a lot of these people had done their regular maintenance they would not have had a problem. The problems people have had with their brakes is preventable and if they had it checked out first sign of trouble they would save money int he long run.
I do agree with you since the 45rfe transmission is a modern TorqueFlite, and as you probably know, needs competent hands to replace the filter without leaving air in the lining.
Bought an 04' loaded with everything for 20K which included an extended warranty since it had 60k miles.
I love the vehicle when it is not in the shop...however,
It now has 80k miles and (under warranty) has had the transmission replaced twice, the transfer case replaced twice and the "front drive assembly??" replaced once.
The dealer I bought it from has bent over backwards to take care of the problems including providing a rental vehicle at no charge.
Has anyone else had any mechanical problems like these?
You just made a happy dealer, with a trans and a tc to supply another customer with the same so-called problem.
Sensors are a common issue for about $50. Easy way to store an otherwise bullet-proof tranny.
