Original Front Disk Brakes have a tendency to warp because they are relatively under-dimensioned for the size and weight of this car. This is a known issue. Had them replaced with larger type when brake shoes were due to be replaced. frond left automatic window motor broke 1 Year after purchase.

Extremely reliable, very comfortable. The back seat area is smaller than you expect for the size of the vehicle, though. Considering the size and weight (2.5 metric tons) of the vehicle, I find the gas consumption moderate: Over the time I own this car, I averaged 12 liters/100Km so far. One should maintain oil/transmission fluid/filter change intervals as specified in the manual. I found that when you skip these intervals, gas consumption tends to go up.

I still love the look of this car and when I look at other makes (Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade, I do not like their design and find Jeeps overall package more attractive.

I really don't have a comment, just a question for anyone who owns a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. I am looking at one with 91,900 miles, and I just read about how the transmission starts to go then. Is this true? Because if so, I will stay away from it. I'd appreciate any help!

I don't know about the 2001 models, but I do know that with the 4.0L and automatic they will go and go and go until you drive it off a cliff while 4-wheelin... I had a friend with one that had like 250,000 miles and still going strong and then I've heard and seen some with close to 275,000 and so on. I even found one at a auction with over 600,000 miles on with the original engine... or so they said...

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee. I had $700 worth of transmission work done at 70K miles. I am now looking for window motors because both front motors went within 2 months of eachother. The rotors, brakes and shocks all need regular replacement.

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited I bought it used w/44,000 miles the car started perfectly fine when I got it...2 weeks later my car wouldn't start at first I thought I was out of gas, but when I towed it to the dealer mechanic ($80) it was me "ECM module" the main relay for the motor

that thing cost me $500, the brakes started squeaking as if I needed new brakes... so I had my rotors turned and I bought new brake pads... same outcome! all & all I like my jeep, looks nice, but I would never never buy another jeep again.

The guides on the window motors break consistently and they cost $264. for the parts and a total of $500 to fix. First the drivers side went then the passengers side. This a regular thing, Jeep claims not to know, but every one else knows. Extended warranties only cover moving parts so we pay for this one beware. 2001 Grand Cherokee limited.
