1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee review from North America
"Great little truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine replaced at 75k (warranty)
fuel pump at 100k
shocks at 110k
steering links at 120k
still noisy when turning hard (CV joints?)
General comments?
Take a drive down the road, and count the number of 93-94 jeep cherokee laredos there are. They are all over the place, and even outnumber the newer models. This is not an accident. This is one Very reliable tough little truck.
We bought it at 52k, the previous owner was a ranch where it had seen daily dusty offroad use. That is probably what killed the motor at 75k and the dealer replaced the motor free. Since then, Most of the repairs were to replace worn out parts due to the constant offroad use of this vehicle, namely steerage, shocks etc. Exception, The fuel pumps broke out in the middle of nowwhere. Also, the transmission cooler line leaks and the tranny slips while cold. I am still having a problem with a grinding sound while turning hard, i think this may be a dry CV joint tho. (Any ideas?) Aside from that, this is one of the most reliable vehicles ive ever owned.
I agree with commenters here that it is silly to whine about replacement parts in vehicles over 100k and over 12 years old. Things break, especially in a 4x4 truck that sees abuse. Count your blessings.
