2008 Jeep Patriot review from North America

The transmission went the third month of owning at 1000 km.

After the transmission was repaired, the same day as I picked the Patriot up from the service department, the transmission went again.

After two months of owning the vehicle, it would not go into third gear. The service department did not communicate to me regarding the nature of the problem. I had to call in week after week for an update, and I was told they did not know what was wrong with the vehicle. They were waiting for parts to be sent in recommended by Jeep Chrysler. Some of the parts arrived after two weeks, but we were still waiting for a shaft.

I received the call that the car was ready 21 days after I brought it in. I was told that I would be mailed a break down of what was wrong with the transmission. At this point I had to demand an explanation of what was wrong with the vehicle.

While the car was in the shop, I was provided with a midsized sedan covered by the warranty; I needed an SUV. After the Patriot had been in for two weeks, I asked to be upgraded to an SUV as I needed it for work; they refused.

I picked up the car after 21 days and asked if it was normal to wait this long for repairs on a brand new vehicle.

The service manager replied "yes, the manufacturer is using the parts to build new vehicles and is reluctant to send parts to repair vehicles that have already been purchased."

I left the service department, and 4 hours later the gears were slipping and I could only drive in 2nd.
