2000 Jeep TJ Sport review from North America
"A Jeep is a Jeep"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Oil pressure sensor went bad, apparently it is a common problem. $60 and 10 minutes was all it took to correct the problem.
I suspect a small coolant leak as I can smell it from the engine bay, however I know it's not a head gasket so when the leak is found it should be a cheaper fix.
Other than that it's been a very solid vehicle.
General comments?
A Jeep is a Jeep. It leaks oil, shakes, pops bounces and makes different noises on almost every trip. But, that's what I bought it for. It has been dead reliable, I've had it (stock) in mud deep enough to come into the cab and have taken it on many 300+ mile trips. The gas mileage isn't terrible (17-21), but my one gripe is cargo space. Once you're in a Jeep for a few months you'll know what I mean.
I can't wait to have a second 4cyl Japanese car so I can build this one up and see what it can really do, however for a daily driver/boat hauler/weekend warrior/fun around town, the TJ can't be beat in my opinion.
The other great thing is how easy it is to work on, especially for novice gear heads like myself.
