The speakers were popping on the premium Infinity 368 watt sound system (speakers sounded like they were blown). The Jeep dealer said there was a Technical Service Bulletin on it and that they had to flash the amplifier with an update. I believe this was to lower the output a little so the speakers wouldn't pop. This seemed like it worked, but some of the speakers pop at times, but not as bad as before. Before there was an update, I had the dealer try installing the 368 watt amplifier from the 2007 models (Chrysler's idea). Although it fixed the popping sound the stereo was not the same. The new amplifier is a 368 watt high power amp (RCY). It didn't have that rich sound and was sort of flat. When the update came they re-installed the old amplifier and did the update. Has anyone else had this problem?
This is a great riding and good looking Jeep.
The road noise is minimal and the interior treatments are fantastic.
The Infinity sound system is awesome. I do hope they get a better fix on the speaker issues. I believe that the standard Sahara AM/FM/CD/Mp3 radio can't mesh with the amplifier and that an upgraded radio should be installed in it's place. I haven't heard of anyone having speaker problems with the MyGig Multimedia Infotainment System.
I am having the same problem. I've taken it in twice to the jeep dealership and they keep installing "software". We will see if it works this time.
I have a 2008 Jeep Sahara 4x4 Unlimited with the mygig and infinity speakers with sub-woofer. I have the same problem with one of my speakers popping. The dealership has also done an update or reflashed... who know's! The second time around they replaced the speaker. Know I have taken it back and they are saying maybe a new amp will fix the problem. so far all that I have found online is that the amp is not enough to handle what the mygig system is putting out, but don't quote me on that! My next option I suppose will be just to take it to someone who knows audio! Not just some tech boy who works for the dealership!
I'm so glad I found this -- My 2008 Sahara (w/ infinity and mygig) has started popping a lot lately -- specifically to certain songs (but songs with seemingly similar bass levels, etc, don't pop). Glad to hear it may just be an amp software issue. Have any of you tried to fiddle with your MP3s to eliminate the popping? I'm going to make sure mine are normalized, and may reduce the bitrate to 128 (most of mine are 192 or 256) to see if that helps... though I'm no techy and have no idea if there's even possibly a correlation.
Thanks for posting this stuff!

I have the same thing,
However I drive a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. On songs with a heavy bass, or just some other random ones, my speakers will "pop". It is extremely annoying.
All I have the same issue with my 2008 Sahara Unlimited with My Gig system. I've changed out the all speakers with the exception of the sub and still the same problem. Would an after market amp fix the problem?
