Since I have owned my jeep only two things have gone bad. The bulb for the 4wd low light blew after owning it for a year and I had the transmission rebuilt 5 thousand miles ago. Other than that my jeep is a tank.
I will have to say the steering on my 94 is absolutely remarkable. The first time I took it for a test drive I took a turn and almost ran into a tree because of it's great turning ratio. The 2.5litre (without a supercharger) is sluggish when you start piling people in the back with a hard top on, but if you invest in a supercharger for it you will have unbelievable power gains. I recently had 9 people in my wrangler and was cruising at 90 mph at 3 grand with more power on hand. If you invest in some 31 sized tires you can take sharp turns that sports cars can take. Those new 97 plus jeeps don't have the stability like the pre 97 because the pre 97 are 2 inches wider, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a big difference if you add 1 inch on each tire to the ground. I've done a lot of work on my jeep and I wouldn't take it too the dealer to check on it because most of the time they hire teenagers who don't know what they are doing with a vehicle and the problem doesn't get fixed. I absolutely love my jeep I bought it for 9,000 and I can re-sell it right now for 7,600.
I am just a little offended by your comment towards teenagers working on vehicles, I myself have lifted my Jeep (myself) rebuilt the 4.2L 258 (myself minus the boreing and the head) and haven't had any problems Teenagers are the future of off-roading and you can't stereotype them based one a few experiences.
I was wondering where you got your supercharger from? Could you mail me at Tjwrangler9797@yahoo.com thanks!
Where did you get your supercharger?
Email me at jefcoam@hotmail.com.
Thanks.
To answer the question of the other guys, Kenne Ball makes a great supercharger for the I6 4.0. I am still trying to figure why anyone would go to the trouble to supercharge a 2.5L 4 banger.
My real reason for writing is I was wondering how the dude got 9 people in a Wrangler with a hard top. That is impressive.
Where did you get a supercharger for a 2.5L pre-97 jeep? please email me at lhorse007@yahoo.com; I am currently trying to find one as well. The reason for supercharging a 4cyl is I have had both 4cyl and 6cyl jeeps, and the 4cyl jeeps where way more reliable the the 6cyl. my 6cyls had a lot more problems than the 4cyls.
www.avengersuperchargers.com makes a supercharger for the 4 cylinder Jeep TJ. I have never installed it before though... Does anyone know which is better: an electric supercharger or an avenger intercooler water circulation system?
If anyone knows any other superchargers for the 4 cylinder, let me know at love_jones77@hotmail.com.
Derek.
Supercharger for the tj... they need it for their yj's...
They sell them to YJ's as well, you didn't look to close on their webpage I guess.
If you have a 4 banger jeep you're a tard.
It would take a lot just to get it as powerful as the I6.
I have an I6 and need more power so I'll super or turbo charge it someday.
