1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport review from North America
"If I crash and live, I will buy another Jeep Wrangler"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Intermittant dash problems which was a dealer recall in 1999. They fixed it for about a year then it started doing it again after hitting bumpy roads. I took the dash apart, applied dielectrical grease to the two large wire harness plugs and not a problem since.
Front and rear differential seals were replaced at 74,955 miles. I say this number with confidence because my warranty was just about to expire at 75,000.
Air conditioner is blowing a bit warmer air in the summer. Probably needs a recharge.
Engine sputters when fuel level is below 1/4 of a tank going around tight corners. On a long driving trip recently, engine would sputter when fuel level was just below 1/2 of a tank on straight highway driving. Doesn't do it anymore, but was real annoying on that trip.
Soft Top needs replacing - first time.
General comments?
6 Cyl. Engine gets me 20 MPG highway.
New soft tops on market will make interior noise quieter.
Every car will have its problems and for a Jeep, this has held up very well in the ever-changing weather of Houston, Texas.
