1995 Jeep Wrangler Sahara review from North America
"A terrific jeep to own!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Catalytic Converter went at 75,000 miles, but was covered under manufacturer. Serpentine belt and battery replaced at 10200 miles. That's it!
General comments?
I have owned 3 1995 Jeep Wranglers and believe the YJ 4.0 with the straight 6 is one of the best Jeeps ever made! I originally bought a 1995 Jeep Wrangler S (4cyl). Do not make this mistake! People will tell you that the 4 cyl gets better gas mileage. This is not true. The 4cyl's top speed is around 70mph (depending on which way the wind is blowing, not kidding). Running a 4cyl wide open causes more fuel consumption on the highway than the 6cyl.The 6cyl is also more reliable. Several mechanics have told me most of the 4cy have to be rebuilt before the 100,000 mile mark.
Not only is it incredibly fun and powerful to drive, its reliability makes it a joy to own. The simplicity of this model makes it easy and inexpensive to work on. There are also less systems on the jeep to break.
