2003 Kia Carens review from UK and Ireland
"Never again!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Gearbox went at 55,000 miles (luckily this was still under warranty at the time.)
Clutch went at 55,000 miles.
MAS (Mass Air Sensor) broke at 65,000.
Air con went at 70,000 miles.
Door handle broke at 78,000 miles.
Air Shut off valve broke at 93,000 miles.
Glow Plugs gone at 94,000 miles.
General comments?
This car, so I thought had a pretty good engine, quite powerful and torquey (although noisy) and haven't had a problem with the engine up until recently. The rest of the car feels a bit plasticy, noisy cabin, lots of squeaking and clunking from all over the car.
Fuel econemy is not very good, I manage to get about 340 miles to a full tank.
When things go wrong it can get expensive, especially when you have to get most parts from the kia dealers, and things started going wrong just after the 3 years warranty was up... £350 to replace glow plugs!
Servicing averaged around £270, so not too bad, but when you need a 10,000 miles service every 3-4 months because I average 35k miles a year gets expensive!
