2001 Kia Rio review from North America
"Very unreliable and a waste of money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Where to start, I bought my KIA used in 2005 it was my very first car. For the first year and a half I didn't have a lot of problems with the Car however the light in my car would work only when it wanted to and sometimes my car would stall at lights. I found it hard to go over 100km. I did all of my annual check ups such as oil changes, changing all fluids etc.. Than in the winter of 2006-2007 I started noticing that my wheel bearings were not sound right, and than within in a 5km drive to the store my KIA started idling and puttering along,so I took my car to the mechanic and let me tell you I was not happy to hear what he had to say. I had a burnt valve which needed to be replaced and of course the head gasket and the head was also worped which needed to be replaced and I needed four new wheeling bearings after everything is done $1350.
Before all of this happened I would have recommend to anyone to buy a KIA, now on the other hand I would never buy a KIA again I need something that is going to be more reliable.
General comments?
I would have to say the only good thing about a KIA RIO is that they are great on gas however you may be saving money on gas, but in the end you will be putting more money into the car.
