2003 Kia Sedona EX from North America - Comments

"Be afraid, be very afraid of the electrical"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Dash light fuses blew at 25 kilometer's .

Would not come out of park on shifter.

Would not start.

Illumination fuses kept blowing.

Had to be towed after 25 kilometer's of ownership.

Auto-Start/Alarm not working properly.

General comments?

Seemed like quality for money.

However too soon to tell.

Dealership was only helpful when forced.

All I have to say is that the Kia has a 10yr 100,000 mile warranty so just have the dealer fix the problems. I looked at the other car companies out there and guess what, they have problems too, but the difference the warranty is much much less than Kia, you do the math.

I don't know who this person is that keeps referring to the 100k mile warranty. It is obvious that his or her car knowledge is very small. The 100k mile warranty is for the engine and transmission. The warranty on the rest of this car is 5 years 60k miles. After the bumper to bumper is up. It is the owners responsibility for the repairs if it is not transmission or engine related.

I agree with the comment above. I think that person must work for KIA!

I have 75,000 miles on mine and it is costing me high $$$$$ every month or two. I am going to dump this vehicle ASAP. Every time I think it is going to run OK again it eats my paycheck. The dealer changed the transmission at about 20,000, I converted to AMSOIL and now the transmission oil stays red. The dealer price on a tune up is insane especially if you change the timing belt. Apparently KIA has no backyard mechanics on their design team because you have to take apart half the engine to change the timing belt, a very poor design. The electrical problems I have had are spotty and hard to diagnose. The AC is making excessive noise and even after giving it back to the dealer $1,000 later it is still not satisfactory. Has lots of plugs, but if you use them you are likely to have problems!! I suggest you get rid of your KIA before 50,000 miles, I would have been much happier if I had.

I believe Kia gets their engines from Mitsubishi as specs. appear to be identical.
