What hasn't gone wrong? The door
handle broke off right in my hand.
Replaced rotors and pads 7 times, first after 2000 miles.
Head gasket started leaking at 15,000 miles.
Changed the tires 4 times.
The car had countless starting problems.
The alignment was always off.
The clutch went at 21,000 miles.
The transmission was always grinding gears.
Transmission kept jumping out of 2nd and 4th gear at 25,000 miles.
There were countless electrical problems; half of the accessories did not work.
Speedometer was always off.
Every fluid was leaking, brake, power steering, coolant, engine oil, gear oil, gasoline just to name a few.
Countless rattles, shakes.
Severe brake pull.
Clicking camshaft noise.
Fuel gauge was inaccurate.
Me and 10 of my automotive technician buddies all chipped in and bought this piece of trash for $2000 from the previous owner, just to see how long it would last.
The owner was desperate to get rid of it (and now I see why).
If I weren't a technician, this car would cost me an arm and a leg.
Being a technician, I can tell you that this car is a road hazard.
After just about everything that could go wrong went wrong, we floored it in neutral and blew the engine (it only didn't take very long).
Now, the car is collecting dust in a junkyard (It seemed to be built in one, so that's where it belongs)
DO NOT BUY A KIA! IT IS DANGEROUS!!!
Doesn't sound very intelligent to spend $2000 on a used car when you don't have the ability to check for the problems you've listed BEFORE you buy the car. Some problems cannot be foreseen, but as a mechanic, a lot of the problems you experienced could have been diagnosed. Maybe you're angry at the wrong entity. Maybe you got ripped off by the guy you bought it from. I'd be embarrassed as a mechanic. Hmmm...
I totally agree with the gentleman above. As a mechanic, he should be more competent than a normal car driver. It is surprised with 10+ mechanics together ended up buying such a car mentioned above. Who's fault?
It's KIA's fault for building such a pile. Even a mechanic cannot predict FUTURE problems!
Yes, you bought a car that costs $6,000 new and was made in Korea... nice life.
Sounds like you and the 10 mechanics need a hobby or a job that pays a little more so you can buy a new kia that was
not abused by the previouse owners-used cars are "used"
cars. they are almost always abused that is why used is inside
abused.
Didn't you read the review? They bought it as a joke to see how long it would last. They didn't care if it had problems or get it for a commuter car.
