2001 Kia Sephia review from North America

The only problem I've had is that (before I made a custom air intake) it sometimes (but pretty rarely) seemed to misfire in the engine which would sometimes lead to the engine check light coming on. While I had the custom intake the engine light came on more frequently and sometimes had hard times starting the car or getting it to move, but so far I'm just blaming the intake and the mass air flow sensor. It also seemed that in conjunction with the above, once the air conditioner has been on or on at all it would run the engine funny. For example, if you have been driving a long ways on a hot day with the AC on and you stopped and let go of the gas, the engine would start to rev itself up some for no reason and if you just barely touched the pedal it would stop. I recently replaced the custom intake with a much nicer cold air intake, and so far for the most part these problems have gone away.

The clutch is also very loose, but I don't really expect it to be like a BMW.

I love this car.

I bought it in a great used condition for cheap, and for the most part it's still been very reliable.

I find it pretty quick with acceleration even stock.

Great to start putting upgrade mods into the engine or whatever, especially if you want to be different from everyone else that just upgrades cheap hatchbacks and the like.

Stock horsepower isn't great, but still mostly better than those same common cars.

Unfortunately, there's really only one main website to buy special upgrade parts for the car, but that site is still good.

Seating and trunk space is good.

Still just overall good, small car for a good price.
