1999 Kia Sportage review from North America
"Worked okay for what it cost, but repairs are a horrible experience"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brakes Failed, Gearbox failed, engine is finicky. The manuals are really hard to get so you have to go to the dealer. I got charged a thousand bucks to change two lousy plugs and a transfer case gasket. Now, it won't start in a small temperature range - between eighty and ninety-five degrees, but at all other times. Alas, I live in AZ so it's often that temp in the morning. I'm terrified to go for another expensive repair on what is probably a tiny problem if I had a simple manual. I think they hoard their manuals so you have to get a repair and get raped.
General comments?
I bought it cheap. It pulls well, but I sure am tired of weird engine lights and problems that are inscrutable. I also wish they'd make their manuals more easily available, and more general. Or if you could get a manual at all.
