Well hello again. I think I should tell you that I bought a Lada Campero jeep 2007 and it is a load of fun. It is a true 4x4; some people don't understand the driving ability.

First of all it is not a race car; what I am saying is if you are looking for speed, a Lada is not for you. It is a sport vehicle and a great off road jeep. Don't get me wrong, you can cruise on a highway, but don't try to keep up with other jeeps. The Lada jeep can surely out do some of the others on rough terrain.

I just took my jeep in for service; the 10000 mile check up. I will not let anyone touch my jeep but a Lada tech. That way I am sure of long driving without a problem.

If anyone wants to know about a Lada, please feel free to ask me a question on this web. By the way, my name is Don.

Pleased to hear that you are happy with your Lada. Have not heard of a Lada Campero though. Is it a Niva under another name? What country are you in? All the 4X4 Ladas are called 'Nivas" as far as I know. Some countries have local names such as Lada Niva "Cossack" or "Hussar" - such as in the U.K.

Hello again, my name is Don. Someone out there asked about my Lada Jeep. The name of it is a Campero; it does not have Niva on it at all. By the way, you have asked me what country I am in; I live in South America (Ecuador), and this is where I purchased my Campero. It is a 2007 and it also has power steering, which makes a big difference when driving. So far so good like I said in an earlier e-mail.

It is not a speed jeep; some people get the wrong idea, but me and my family are very pleased with it. As they say, it could be called the son of the Range Rover.

Take care and God bless.

Hello again lada jeep fans this is don I just want to tell you that I been thinking about undercoating my lada jeep with a anti corrossion tar I stoped in at a service area and they said that it could be done so I am gonna take it in for the undercoating which will protect the underside of the jeep and give me years of worry free rot because lets face it all cars and trucks get the corrossion sooner or later to do the job it will cost me 30.00 dollars that's not so bad but I have to convince my wife ha ha ha plus with the undercoat it will deaden the sound a bit please let me hear from you and give me your opinion take care for now and god bless.

Lot of negative feedback on the Lada Niva in previous comments, and to be honest by the way they sound and what hey say, I don't think people know what they are talking about in regards to Ladas.

I have owned 2 Nivas within the space of about three years, it was my first car! A 96 model that smelled of fuel. It was in terrible condition and I mean terrible. I believe all this came from a lack of maintenance and general care you would give to any car.

I think people are so taken up by the fact that Nivas are a very tough car, they think they can skimp on essential maintenance both mechanically wise and body wise.

It took me hours or hard work to get my first Niva looking respectable, and it was well worth it in the end, apart from the rust, which I did not know how to get rid of properly back then.

In the end it got the better of me and so many things went wrong with it (The list really is too long for me to say here) so I bought myself a new car after that. But even so, it was an awesome little car and I was saddened in a way when I got rid of it.

Then a few years passed and I caught the bug again, and ended up getting another one, a 94 model, which was a little banged up, but I fixed it pretty well and now it is one of the nicest looking Nivas on the road here in Western Australia, not the best but close to it!

A multitude of things went wrong with it; timing chain damper broke and ended up logged in between the oil pump gear, thus loose timing chain damaged the head a little, (this I believe was due to lack of intermittent timing chain tensioning), distributor was gone (spark advance ie no power), rear main end oil leak, new clutch, it caught fire! Because of the precious owners doing and my addition of fish oil as corrosion prevention, still a oil leak on the bottom of the bell housing, which I think is gear box seal, so I am now replacing that.

They are getting quite rare here now and good specimens are getting very hard to come by. The only immaculate and as new Niva I saw was on a holiday down south. I saw a red Niva toro EFI and it was like it rolled off of the factory line an hour ago! Awesome, I went for a closer inspection and this thing had it all, even air conditioning! A credit to the owner! Look after it whoever you are for goodness sake!

Easy to work on if you have basic tool kit and are practically minded. I only wish I had the opportunity to have purchased one from brand new, and to have owned it and looked after it from then till now, to prove that with a little love they will perform reliably and give you all the satisfaction you could ever want in a 4x4 off road vehicle.

And does anyone know what the original Niva tool kit contained? That 21 piece kit that came original with the car? I am very eager to get myself or make one up if I knew what it contained.

And like a quote I remember seeing on the Internet somewhere, Built For Siberia Not Suburbia. Long live Niva!
