When I first purchased the car, the instrument panel was not really working. The speedometer was off for example.. Fixed easily as there are no complicated electric circuits here..
Very easy to repair and maintain.
One of the engine mounts was broken at the time of purchase. Changed for security reasons. The muffler was probably the cause. When the car hits something from the rear side, this could happen.
The second gear was a little difficult to operate. Fixed by my dealer and official service. These cars have all the same problem.
The electrical system is of bad quality. Probably a matter of poor manufacturing process..
The steering is heavy because there is no power steering. But recent models have a classic oil filled power steering now.
The car handles very well on the tarmac.
The engine has enough power to take every road situation to it's benefit.
Does not like hot weather.
This car is way beyond the old Lada Samara that it replaces now. Much more modern and roomy than the Samara.
A well- written and interesting review. The electrical system in the Lada is really very good- the real problem is often the oxidation of electrical contact points. This is fairly common in Ladas, and is easily rectified by taking the time to "dress" the contact points of various components using very fine sandpaper- e.g. the contact points between the various tail-light globes need polishing every few years. Some electrical components are not adequately insulated from the elements. Simply adding more protection (wrapping more insulating tape around contact points) will ensure future electrical problems do not occur. Happy motoring!
